This Privacy Policy explains how Fairway Femmes ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information about you when you use our mobile application and related services (the "Service"). It applies to everyone who uses Fairway Femmes.
We believe privacy matters. This policy is written in plain language so you can understand what we do with your information and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address, first and last name, and (optionally) a profile photo. If you sign in using Apple or Google, we receive basic profile information from that provider.
Profile & Golf Information
To help you connect with other golfers, you may choose to share your home course, handicap, years playing, playing style preferences, availability, and similar profile details. You control what you share and can edit or remove it at any time.
Location Data
With your permission, we use your device's location to help you discover playing partners and courses near you. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings. Location is used only while you're using features that depend on it and is not continuously tracked.
Content You Create
We collect content you submit through the Service, including messages you send to other users, community feed posts, round logs and scores, group posts, and photos you upload.
Subscription & Payment Information
Subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, and managed through RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We receive information about which subscription tier you have and its status.
Usage & Device Information
We collect information about how you use the Service, including features accessed and actions taken, through our analytics provider (PostHog). We also receive crash and error reports through Sentry to help us fix bugs. This data includes device type, operating system, app version, and a random identifier — not your name or email.
Push Notification Tokens
If you opt in to push notifications, we collect a device-specific token that lets us deliver notifications to your device. You can disable push notifications at any time in the app or your device settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Help you find playing partners, groups, and tee times
- Deliver messages, notifications, and community content
- Process subscriptions and manage your account
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety issues
- Analyze usage to improve features and fix bugs
- Comply with legal obligations
3. How We Share Information
With Other Users
Your profile information (name, photo, home course, handicap, and anything else you choose to show on your profile) is visible to other Fairway Femmes users. Messages you send are visible to their recipients. Posts in community feeds or groups are visible to members of those communities. You control what appears on your profile.
With Service Providers
We share information with trusted providers who help us operate the Service:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles authentication
- GolfAPI.io — provides golf course and handicap data
- Apple and Google — process sign-in and subscriptions
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status
- PostHog — analytics to understand feature usage
- Sentry — crash reporting and error monitoring
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (like password resets)
- Netlify — hosts our website
Each of these providers is bound by contract to use your information only to provide services to us.
For Legal Reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Fairway Femmes, our users, or the public.
In a Business Transfer
If Fairway Femmes is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records (such as billing records for tax purposes, or information we must keep to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements).
5. Your Rights & Choices
You have control over your information:
- Access and update your profile information at any time in the app
- Delete your account from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing us — see our account deletion page
- Control location access through your device settings
- Turn off push notifications through the app or device settings
- Opt out of analytics through the app's privacy settings
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect about you, request deletion of your personal information, correct inaccurate information, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we don't sell or share it for cross-context advertising). European Users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. You can exercise these rights by contacting us at support@fairwayfemmes.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
6. Children's Privacy
Fairway Femmes is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information, but we work hard to protect it.
8. International Data Transfers
Fairway Femmes is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email, and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
